A Rhode Island milestone cache.
Rhode Island is definitely the smallest state in the union, but by one count, it has the second highest cache density per 1000 square miles, second only to the District of Columbia (which actually isn’t even a state!). While there have been more than 1000 caches placed in the state since geocaching got started back in 2000, there was never a time that there were 1000 active caches in the state at the same time.
Until now.
When this cache was listed, it was the 1000th active cache in Little Rhody. The cache is in Goddard Park, one of the most heavily cached parks in the state. It is fairly easy to get to from any number of different parking areas.
So when will #2000 be published?
I would also like to thank someone else who was instrumental in making this milestone a possibility. If it weren't for the hard and thankless work of GPSFUN (who probably reviewed the more than 1000 Rhode Island caches that have been placed since Brenton Point was placed in 2000), we wouldn't be celebrating. I know I speak for many of the locals when I say "Thanks, GPSFUN".
