Le plus simple est de démarrer
du Col du Mistral, où on est obligé de laisser la voiture.
Descendre la route jusqu’au pont du Perthus où, juste après,
il faut prendre la piste forestière qui part à droite en longeant
le ruisseau. Après 120m prendre le chemin montant à gauche, puis
après quelques mètres le chemin qui monte à droite. Continuer la
montée (45 minutes environ) en laissant les sentiers allant sur la
gauche dans le sens de la montée, jusqu’au plateau de la
Barre de Roussivau. Le sentier est pierreux, des chaussures de
marche sont donc conseillées. Ne pas oublier de prendre des
boissons, surtout l’été.
Le retour se fait en chemin inverse, mais il est possible de faire
un circuit plus long (compter 2h de marche) en suivant la route
forestière en direction de la Maison Forestière de Roussivau, où un
sentier longeant la route goudronnée mène au Pont du Perthus (la
carte IGN #3544ET Fréjus-St-Raphael est utile).
Start from the Col du
Mistral, where parking the car is mandatory; and go down on the
blacktop road until the Perthus Bridge. Just after the bridge, turn
right on the track running alongside the brook for 130 yd (120 m),
and there turn left on the uphill path. After a few yards walk on
the right path, which leads to the plateau of the Barre de
Roussivau (after 45 min or thereabouts): take care to leave all the
paths on the left. Hiking boots are required on these stony paths,
and don’t forget, particularly in summer, to take drinks with
you.
The return is the opposite way, but for strong walkers it’s
possible to go around the Barre de Roussivau, following the track
towards the Ranger House of Roussivau (the IGN map #3544ET
Fréjus-St-Raphael is very useful to find one’s
way).
