Geocache Description:

Parking near by, walk up to cache. No need to enter the cemetery.

After doing some local history research we were surprised to learn of this cemetery tucked away off the beaten path for most of us. Once we made the trip there and strolled through reading some of the old head stones we came across Mrs Annie B. Bells. We were so moved by the construction of her head stone we knew we wanted to honor her with this cache.

In 1890 Laura and William Brawner donated 16 acres of land for the establishment of a cemetery for black slaves. It was named Evergreen. During this time blacks and whites were not allowed to be buried in the same cemetery.

Over the years the named changed severl times. Through the research efforts of Alton Williams in 2007 it was returned to its original name of Evergreen.

It has been very interesting reading the local history of Casselberry, a town we first moved to 33 years ago.
Happy caching.....
