Having lived in the area for almost 2
decades,
I have driven past this "trailhead" a myriad of times, always
thinking
"Someday I should check
this out...."
This past December (2008), the surrounding area was
barraged by
Mother
Nature
with an ICE STORM the likes of
which had not been seen in over 50
years!
Had this cache been placed prior to December 2008,
it would have been rated with a terrain of 1.5 - 2.0...
BUT,
as the name implies, the
wrath of
Mother Nature
changed things!
(This one will be real
fun in the warmer months!)
Coords should be accurate; 3 sets of 45 averaged readings
were taken from 3 sides of the cache location.
(When the "growth" comes, coords may
shift somewhat - FYI)
The cache is located on NWCDC property which
requires a hiking permit.
*** From a reliable source: patrolling and
enforcement is being stepped up this year ***
(primarily due to ATV activity, but don't chance it...get your
permit!)
Hiking permits cost $12/year and are
