Geocache Description:

Very easy hike, within a 1/4 mile from the trail head on Fairland Road. Relatively muggle free.

The Upper Paint Branch park and trail is a well marked, secluded and beautiful hike in suburban Montgomery County. In the many years I have hiked this trail, I have seen fox, deer, trout, great blue heron, all forms of waterfowl and bird life, and waterfalls along the stream, yet I can count the number of people I have seen on the trail on my fingers and toes. Hundreds of commuters pass by this park daily yet it is virtually unknown, and likely to dramatically change in the not too distant future due to ICC construction through the center of the park.

This cache gets its name from two fallen logs across the trail not far past ground zero. My 5 year old climbed over the tree while my three year old simply crawled under, one taking the high road and the other the low road. When I recently explained that a different form of high road (highway) would be passing through the park, they were not altogether pleased. I am happy that they at least got a chance to hike and play on the trail before the changes, and hope you will too, part of the reason for placing this cache so close to the trail head:
N 39° 04.682 W 076° 58.703

There are many paths along the multiple streams in the park. This instamap page shows the path along one of my favorites were brown trout can be seen spawning and herons and hawks can be seen hunting the fish:

A USGS stream gauge can be seen along the trail .

The cache itself is a nalgene bottle with some heavy camouflage.

Be sure to visit "Good Hope For Brown Trout" in the park, one of my kids first and favorite caches, and the nearby "Fawcett's Mill Race" which was coincidentally placed the same day!

Congratulations to wetfit for FTF! with flydad close behind. Tktran was first on the scene but used my original but incorrect coordinates so deserves honorable mention.
