Geocache Description:

On Manville Road near Hale's Chapel Church.
Please respect service hours and any time that the Church is in use you may want to consider seeking this cache at another time. The purpose of this cache placement is to educate people about the history of Scott County, Va.
So if you leave without your name on the log sheet, at least you know some of the history of our county and the location of the old Prospect School.

Prospect School was a Community gathering place. The Principal was W.D. Morison, Jr., who along with the trustees, Jack Porter, Grant D. Wood, Commadore Tarter, Vernon Smith, and Oscar P. Wolfe, laid the Corner Stone for their new building in 1919.
Prospect School was the only black school in Scott County and was built with funds recieved from the Rosenwall Foundation by volunteer labor given by the patrons of the community.
The cache has a log book and room for some trade items or trackables.
