A cache placed for GeoStomp 09
Robbins Range School was begun in 1915 and was opened in 1916 with
Miss Helen Harrold as the first teacher. The school also served as
a community center for church services, picnics, dances, for
decades, Christmas concerts, and special celebrations. After WWII,
the school population dwindled until it finally closed in 1952.
The school building was dismantled and reconstructed onto the
Pineridge School site during the summer of 1985, using a grant from
Canada Works, and support from the Phi Delta Kappa organization and
School District #24 (now #73).
It was officially opened on May Day commemorating 100 years of
public schooling in Kamloops.
The school is opened up for a few months each spring for classroom
visits and a day of heritage. This may not be a suitable cache for
regular school hours. Please attempt this cache after 4:00 or
during weekends. The cache was originally placed right at the
school, but was moved to a spot withing easy walking distance, and
off school property. Although it is listed as a traditional cache,
it will feel more like a puzzle cache now.
