Geocache Description:

The house you see was built in 1835 about 8 miles West of here and was moved to its current location in 1994 by the Cahaba Trace Commission. It remained occupied by descendents of the original family til the 1980's.

Absalom Pratt was born in Stokes, NC and settled in River Bend with his brothers John, Jacob, and Hopkins around 1816-1818. Parents Richard and Rebecca soon followed. In 1822 he married Mary Dickerson and had 12 children. One son , Richard Hopkins Pratt, was a principal at the nearby Six-Mile Acadamy.

He was appointed Colonel of militia in 1841 and died of typhoid fever in 1845. His wife lived til 1882 and operated the Cahaba RIver Ferry. Legend has it that rather than let the Union Troops under General James H. Wilson use it in 1865 when his raiders destroyed the Brierfield Furnaces, she set the ferry adrift.

You are looking for a small Lock and Lock filled with a log and a few small tradeables. The day was cloudy when I put this one out so the coords might be a little bit off. The hint is in 2 stages and the 2nd one is a spoiler.

*UPDATE* - see the sister cache "Pratt's Ferry Preserve" GC2P8QX about 8 miles away.
