O Autódromo Internacional do
Algarve é um circuito de corridas de 4.692 km (2.916 mi) localizado
em Portimão, Portugal. Com um custo total de 195 milhões de Euros
(aproximadamente 250 milhões de dólares), o projecto incluiu uma
pista de karting, um parque tecnológico, um hotel de cinco
estrelas, um complexo desportivo e apartamentos. A construção ficou
concluída em Outubro de 2008 e o circuito foi homologado pela F.I.M
a 11 de Outubro de 2008 e pela FIA dois dias depois.

| O circuito acolheu a última ronda
do Mundial de Superbikes a 2 de Novembro de 2008. A 9 de Junho, a
pista foi confirmada para acolher uma ronda da Temporada de 2008-09
da A1 Grand Prix. A corrida ficou marcada para o fim-de-semana de
12 de Abril de 2009. A 10 de Outubro de 2008, a Le Mans Series
anunciou uma corrida nocturna de 1000km no Algarve a 2 de Agosto de
2009. A 5 de Novembro de 2008, o campeonato de FIA GT anunciou o
calendário para 2009 e a 7ª ronda da temporada será realizada a 13
de Setembro de 2009 no Algarve. Uma sessão de testes de Fórmula 1,
com a McLaren e com a Honda a participar, foi marcada para 15 a 17
de Dezembro de 2008 |

O piloto do Filipe
Albuquerque A1 Team Portugal observou que existem grandes descidas
e uma curva à direita após a recta principal. Também comentou que a
pista é boa para ultrapassagem, pois o circuito é grande. Foi
confirmado que a uma das curvas do circuito seria dado o nome do
piloto de motas Craig Jones que faleceu num acidente de motas em
Brands Hatch em 2008. |

The Autódromo
Internacional do Algarve is a 4.692 kilometers (2.915 mi) race
circuit located in Portimão, Portugal. With a total cost of
€195 million (approximately $250 million), the project
includes a karting track, technology park, five-star hotel, sports
complex and apartments.
Construction was finished in October 2008 and the circuit was
homologated by both the FIM on 11 October 2008 and the FIA two days
later. |
| The circuit hosted the final round of the
Superbike World Championship on November 2, 2008. On 9 June, the
track was confirmed to host a round of the 2008-09 A1 Grand Prix
season. The race was set for the weekend of April 12, 2009. On
October 10, 2008, the Le Mans Series announced a 1000 km night race
to be held at Algarve on August 2, 2009. On November 5, 2008, the
FIA GT Championship announced 2009 calendar and 7th round of the
season will be held at Algarve on September 13, 2009. |

A Formula One test session, with
the McLaren and Honda teams participating, has been scheduled for
December 15-17, 2008. Ferrari also considered running at Algarve.
Toyota will also test at the circuit on January 20, 2009 in the
first outing of their new TF109 chassis. The circuit will also host
the final round of the 2009 GP2 Series season. |
| A1 Team Portugal's
driver Filipe Albuquerque observed that there are big downhill
slope and right-hand turn after the main straight. He also
commented that the track is good for overtaking because the circuit
looks wide. It has been confirmed that one of the corners of the
circuit was named after former World Supersport rider Craig Jones
who sadly passed away during a motorcycle crash at Brands Hatch in
2008. |
