Welcome to Li'l Oak Harbor where half the town is in the local parade while the other half watches!
Known for Deception Pass and the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, Oak Harbor still retains much of it's small town heritage. This cache is dedicated to the large population of descendants from Holland that live in this area. Although the Hollanders were not the first to settle on North Whidbey, their arrival in the mid-1890’s contributed much to the early growth, economy and government of the area.
Holland Happening is a three day festival held the last weekend in April, celebrating the community's Dutch heritage. This year will be its 42nd year. There is a parade, an Arts and Crafts Fair, a Carnival, canal boat races, an authentic wooden shoe carver and other special entertainment.
