Cache is placed in Darren Fawr Forest over looking Blaengarw. The view over the valley, which was once was full of mining activity, is now stunningly beautiful and peaceful.
Parking is available at the following car park N51 37.554 W 003 35.495 - though there is plenty of parking up and down the valley of you want a longer walk.
There are a few paths to the cache, that become quite steep and are slippery and muddy when wet. To get up to the final location take the path up into the woods that is about 30yds (SE) from the small clearing / culvert on the main track (obvious when you get there). Care should be taken when approaching the cache as the ground is uneven.
The cache is a black plastic 1 ltr clip lock tub. My first go at hiding a cache the contents include Zimbabwean $100 billion bank note (expired 31/12/08), pack of Explorer GoGos, Stripy Tiger, Diabetic Travel Bug, CDT Time credits, note book & pencils.
The cache is placed with permission of Gardd Garw who manages the woodland.
No access for buggies / wheelchairs. Suitable for kids and dogs, access 24/4 – though not recommended at night.
