Geocache Description:

The Putnam County Cache Quest

The Cache

The North West corner of Putnam county is a very different place when the river floods. Please pull off the road when visiting. The river near by has made some of the most beautiful scenery. Please enjoy.

There is no need to go under the bridge for this one.

The Quest

The Putnam County Cache Quest is a chance for cachers to visit the smallest of all Illinois counties, Putnam. Enjoy touring the small towns and country side of this hidden county. With only two caches in the entire county, the county challenge can be very difficult. Why not bring out important points in a nice little area?

Putnam County is the smallest county of the U.S. state of Illinois. As of 2000, the population is 6,086. The county was formed in 1825 out of Fulton County. It is named after Israel Putnam, who was a general in the American Revolution. The county seat is Hennepin, Illinois.
