To pick up the clues for this cache you will need to visit a small memorial garden at the posted coordinates in front of the Jermyn Community Center. Take time to read the plaque and learn about the garden’s meaning and layout.
The clues you will need to collect are:
a = number of benches at the garden entrance
b = last digit of year of dedication ceremony
c = number of letters in the last name of final person listed under World War I on the veterans monument
d = number of letters in the last name of seventh person listed in right column of first aid monument
e = 7 less than the sum of the digits of the American Legion Post mentioned
f = third digit in the year Jermyn borough was established
Coordinates to the final are: N 41° 31.abc W 075° 31.def
As an observation, take notice of the coordinates engraved in the lower left of the granite dedicated to Jermyn’s first mayor. Notice anything about the west coordinate?
Final will take you to a park I have visited numerous times growing up and continue to visit when in town. While looking for the final you might as well try and pick up a couple more ‘smileys’ in the park if you have the time.
Best if you have a car to take you from the posted coordinates to the final otherwise you'll have a long way to walk and the terrain rating will increase substantially.
