*** cache is not hidden in the wind cave aka alien pod, no need to climb up *** but it's only a few feet away*** cache is now a 7 inch long about 1inch diameter tube, cords are jumpy, check the hint and it should be easy find **Best approach take the Summit Trail ** it's not far from the trail, see more description below
I placed this cache to highlight the small, but unique "wind cave" at the bottom of Senteniel Rock. I came across this spot a few years ago while exploring Rock City with my daughter Tamara. We thought it would make a great spot for a cache. We hope you like the spot as much as we do. General Warning: Mt Diablo is home to ** Rattle Snakes** and other wildlife. Watch your step and don't put your hands in places you can not see . There is poison oak in the area, you should be able to identify poison oak if you are trying to find this cache. I did not see any poison oak in the imediate area of the cache at the time of placement, however depending on the approach you take you might find plenty of it. The best approach (PO can be avoided easily) ** going uphilll** would be to step of summit trail to your right **using a small "use trail" which looks like a dry creek bed, follow it uphill just for a little bit until you are close to the rock formation on the left, you should see a tree on your left, which has a lot of exposed roots, go up there and you will find the "wind cave" on your right. **Coming down the hill **(coming down the summit trail go past the cache on your left, until you see the "dry crek" on your left ), located between the 2 big rock formations, follow it uphill just for a little bit until you are close to the rock formation on the left, you should see a tree on your left, which has a lot of exposed roots, go up there and you will find the "wind cave" on your right. *** It is not hidden in the cave*** Summit trail runs all the way from South Gate Road to the top of Mt. Diablo, it can be accessed from Wall Point Road and Live Oak Campground, nearest parking is available at Rock City. There is a $ 20 entrance fee for cars to Mt. Diablo State Park There is a lot of "use trails" around rock city and you can approach this from the main area of rock city and California Tarantula cache GCQD6D in many ways, but there will be plenty of Poison Oak on the way.
