Geocache Description:

Short hike on gravel road. More precise position of cache: S41 10.356 E175 01.062

The Blue Mountains foresty tracks are favored by hikers, mountain bikers and horse riders. Park at the top of Avro Road (41.10.494S - 175.1.388E) and walk down the gravel path towards Pinehaven. After about 15 minutes you will be able to admire views over Silverstream and Trentham (Mawai-Hakona is the ancient Maori name for the greater Trentham area).

The logging tracks continue South along the ridge behind Stokes Valley and eventually lead to the top of Wainuiomata Hill Road. Alternate tracks lead down to Kiln Street in Silverstream with occasional side tracks out to Stokes Valley, Wainuiomata, and Pinehaven.

The area is logged from time to time and care may be needed if vehicles are using the tracks. It is usually easy to hear them coming and not hard to get off the road. Loggers are happy to share the road with recreational users.

Cache is a 700ml Systema in Camo containing log book, pencil, and some special items carefully selected by my young children.
