This is the second cache in this lumpy area - see also: Quarry. This isn't far away from the old quarry, but we thought we'd give you an extra reason to ascend to the top for the best views. The whole area is interesting to explore as many little tarnletts exist in the folds of the land. Silver birch has colonised the area on the dry humps, but then has to cope with the thin soils over the rock.
The crag is one of many in the area but has a satisfying look. Weathering has produced small pockets and widened cracks and bedding planes. If you look closely at the south end, you can find a short length of a layer of slightly folded, subtly different rock with a mini-fault line separating it from the main body. A short distance away is the cairn, although it's probably a little lower than the crag. Both are good view points.
Cache is a small L&L box.
