This is one of the most beautiful coastal walks on Waiheke Island. It takes you past some very exclusive homes and garden sculptures. But most especially you get to see the Hauraki Gulf and some of its islands in a panoramic vista that is absolutely breathtaking.
As you come into Matiatia on the passenger ferry the track is on the headland to the left. Walk along the beach, past an old boatshed or two and wind your way up. One of the first bays you come to is a nice swimming spot.
Take your togs and a picnic lunch for a great day out.
This walk is a loop and it takes about an hour and a half to a junction where if you turn right up the hill and over Delamore Drive, you will end up back at Matiatia.
If you want to carry on further, it will take you past Owhanake Bay to Island Bay then up and down through a vineyard and back to the road that will take you up to Oneroa.
....and yes, there may be another cache on the way.....
This cache site, looks to be an early pa site.
Not sure if I've hidden this one well enough, could be a muggle child zone, would appreciate some feedback.
Caution: This track is narrow and steep in parts and close to the cliff edge, it can also be slippery when wet. Please supervise children closely. Also a great place to walk the dog.
