High Wood consists of 31.8 acres of mostly deciduous trees with mature oak, ash and sycamore round the edge, and younger oak, ash, cherry and willow in the centre. Retention of dead wood is part of the management plan. In spring there are violets, then nettles, rosebay and brambles. Nineteen species of butterflies have been recorded. There is a path all the way round, and two paths cross at right-angles in the middle. Please stay on the paths as much as possible.
