“Oliver Elliott was born in the Mystic Lake area in 1921and was raised here. He attended and graduated from San Jacinto High School. He built a barn on this spot in 1964 and had living quarters on the upper level, animals on the bottom. When the lake was high, he and his daughter, Karleen, used a boat to reach home. The animals moved across the road to higher ground. Oliver Elliott died in 2004.”
“The barn and 38 surrounding acres were purchased by the State and are part of the San Jacinto Wildlife area. Sadly, the barn was torn down by the State of California Department of Fish and Game last May, 2008. It had deteriorated and humans and wildlife had made homes in the barn. Liability won over local history. But some of us will continue remembering Oliver Elliott.” - http://www.pe.com/columns/bobpratte/stories/PE_News_Local_H_hbob20.426fcea.html
