In an old quarry further south of this spot was once an Illicit Still hidden deep in a cave, the secret of Lady Miller - owner of an Inn in Pitmedden along the ancient coach road.
A large beech tree named after her stands beside the coach road. The remains of the Inn can just be made out in the undergrowth, built on the Fife/Perth border in the centre of what is now Forest
Her faithful maid Katie Thirsty carried the water she needed up the brae to the cave from a well further below.
The cave no longer exists due to quarrying, but the well is still to be seen further down the farm track.
The cache is hidden at the old ruin.
