Through the Groves cache is in the Bye Preserve, a peaceful 23.5 acre woodland in Pound Ridge, NY. Cache is less than half a mile from the parking area and 40-50 feet from the main trail. The trail is well marked but requires some climbing.
This is my first geocache hide. After a weekend of multicaching, Nick the geokid announced that it was high time he had a cache of his own. Through the Groves is in honor of my little guy's adventurous spirit.
You are looking for a medium sized plastic container packed with lots of goodies: a sunflower growing kit, gumby/pooky toy, unactivated geocoin (maybe you can figure out the activation code?), chinese red envelope with coin, pack of tissues, reusable grocery bag, coupon for one hour of free play at a nearby kids gym, handmade set of 12 wine glass rings, and lots of handmade sterling silver and crystal jewelry.
The Bye Preserve is located off of Route 137/High Ridge Road (across from the Pound Ridge Golf Club) and is open for hiking from dawn to dusk. There is a small parking area and a kiosk. The preserve begins as a small sliver of land between private properties, then opens up into woodlands. In the middle of it all are hemlock groves. The trail is marked with white tags.
