AGT-Elk-Laurel Mill CITO Cache In Trash Out® Event

This cache has been archived.

kcepenn: This cache was a one day CITO event and there is no hidden cache at this site. We appreciate all the help from geocachers who turned out to help us pick up a truckload of roadside trash in the Laurel Mill vicinity. We plan on having an annual CITO event somewhere on the Forest, so we hope to see you next spring.

Geocache Description:

THIS EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY MAY 3, 2009 FROM 10 AM TO 3PM. The staging/ meeting area will be at Laurel Mill Ski Area at the coordinates above. See below for further details.

The CITO event will start at 10 am and end at 3pm. Lunch will be served from 12:00 Noon to 12:45pm. Clean up will continue after lunch. This is structured so that you can help out at any time during this period for as a long a period as you want. (i.e. you can come at 10, clean until 12 and have lunch and then leave or come for lunch and clean up after lunch. You can come and clean up for an hour- whatever you want. You can make it fit your schedule.)

We will be providing a simple lunch. If you wish to bring a dish to pass, we would appreciate it. Or if you wish to solicit a donation you can do that. Please let us know what you are bringing if you are bringing something.

Please let us know how many will be attending so we can plan accordingly for food etc.

There will be doorprizes. Two limited edition Allegheny GeoTrail tee shirts and a few other items will be given away in a random drawing to a couple of lucky participants at the end of the CITO event. There will be an AGT event stamp available to stamp your passport if you are still working on qualifying for the coins, however, please note that WE WILL NOT BE REDEEMING COINS OR VALIDATING YOUR PASSPORTS AT THIS EVENT.

We will supply garbage bags, plastic gloves and some other gloves. If you have work gloves, bring them along if you wish. We might even supply a couple of caches for participants to find during the event.

Most of the stuff we will be picking up will be smaller trash type stuff. If someone wants to partcipate but can't physcially pick up trash, there are other things you can help with, like helping us with pre-event organizing and helping out at the staging area. Let us know if you are interested in helping in this way.

This event will also count as an Allegheny GeoTrail cache, so if you are still working on earning your AGT coins for Elk County, you can get a stamp for your AGT passport. .

This event cache is part of the Allegheny GeoTrail (AGT), a publicly funded project designed to promote a pleasant and positive experience and image of the Allegheny National Forest region and its gateway communities. The AGT utilizes the growing interest in geocaching to assist both residents and visitors to the area in learning more about the unique attractions in the ten participating counties. You will find a unique self inking rubber stamp to stamp your Allegheny GeoTrail Passport at the event registration table. When you have found a minimum of six AGT caches, you will be eligible to have your AGT passport validated and receive a commemorative AGT trackable geocoin at participating locations. You must have your official AGT passport with you when you attend this event in order to stamp it. Click on the Allegheny GeoTrail Logo below to visit the AGT website at www.alleghenygeotrail.com for complete details and a listing of participating locations where you may pick up and validate AGT passports to receive your souvenir geocoin, trackable at www.geocaching.com .There will be passports available at the event for those who have not started it yet.
