Geocache Description:

This is a quick grab on Route 32 as it enters Goesan-gun and the village of Cheongcheon. You will see Imggeokjeong, large than life, holding a large red pepper.

Goesan County chose the legendary figure of Imggeokjeong as its symbol. According to legend, dating back to the Chosun era, he was a type of outlaw who championed the common people. There are caves and other places where he is said to have hid out froum the government. He is honored for his fearless good heart.

As the symbol for Goesan-gun, he holds a red pepper, for Goesan prides itself on the best kochu in all of Korea. I think this is true.

There is an easy parking area in front of this statue. In the early spring there are honeybees in the nearby bushes.
