Geocache Description:

Long hard finger lakes trail hike.

From Dryden, head south on route 38. Take the first left (E) onto Keith Lane. At the end of Keith Lane, turn right (S) on County Road 157 (also called East Lake road)park along the road, just north of house #539 where you see a yellow and green FLT sign. There is room for only one car here. Please don't park in or block the private driveway.
At the beginning the field is wet in spring and rubber boots are a must. The hike to Bud Brook will get your heart pumping. It's a good aerobic workout. You'll climb throught a forest, cross fields and pasture lands. Follow the white blazes around the edge of a field and cross a stile at 0.3 mile. Continue east toward the forested hill. Head uphill (N) on an old dirt road.Watch for and take the right hand turn off the dirt road about halfway up the hill Follow the white blazes as the trail makes many switch backs At 0.6 mile pause a moment to sign the trail register. At 0.8 mile you reach the top and it flattens. Then begin on down staying on the FLT white blazes as the old road bed here is posted private land. The trail will curve around to the SE and bring you to the brook. You can cross the brook and walk down stream to see the many small water falls, BUT you do not need to cross to get the cache. You are looking for a large pill bottle with cammo tape. Cache has log only and a TB to start it off. The hike is about 2.55miles round trip and plan on 2 hours due to the hill climbing (and resting). When you are at the open field take a minute to enjoy the grand view down in the vally and Dryden lake.
