You are cordially invited to an ancient Roman Feast

Most Romans were poor and their meals were very meager. At the other end of the spectrum were the very rich who liked to show off their wealth by hosting parties where the food served was very difficult to prepare, contained very rare items and expensive spices. In fact, these qualities were often more important than taste. You may want to add authenticity to your next Toga Party by serving an ancient roman meal that can be prepared from ingredients found at the local grocery store. The following is a simple two-course meal that won’t break your budget.
