4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

A straight forward micro cache placed on the Sunday of racing. Why a micro you might ask? Well during the racing weekend the immediate area is muggle central. It's located in the general admittance area so anyone with a ticket to the Clipsal weekend can access it. For others I guess this cache will be unavailable 4 days of the year.

This cache is placed near the infamous Clipsal 500 turn 8. The turn is the fastest turn on the V8 Supercar racing calendar with an approach speed close to 240 kph and a mid corner speed of 210 kph. It has been the sight of many accidents but the most tragic was that of Ashley Cooper in 2008.

On February 23, 2008, during the Fujitsu V8 Supercars Series support race, driver Ashley Cooper crashed at turn 8 at around 200 km/h. After clipping the inside wall, Cooper's car was thrown sideways into the wall ensuring a very hard side on impact. He was given a track-side tracheotomy and taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital but died at 1pm on Monday 25 February. His was the first death at the track that has held eleven Grands Prix, a Le Mans Series sports car race and 10 of the Clipsal 500 events.
