3rd edition of caching in Paris (Ohio). Not wheelchair accessible. Well behaved & leashed pets welcome.
This is the 3rd edition of an event hosted at our house. Attendance the first 2 years has been fairly small, but that’s ok because we certainly couldn’t handle an extremely large group. There usually has been a good mix of people from various geographic locations at our events. People have arrived in Paris from MI, PA, OH, and WV.
There is no format to this event. It is your day to do as you would like. If you’d like to just sit around and talk cache, that’s fine. If you’d like to go out caching, that’s fine too. 2 of the Ohio State Parks ( Guilford and Quail Hollow) which have been part of the Ohio State Parks challenge series are within 25 minutes from here.
There are not too many cachers in our immediate area, so lots of the caches around here have fallen into the lonely cache club. There are currently 140 caches within 16 miles of here. You could pick up caches in Stark, Columbiana, Mahoning, Carroll, Portage and Tuscarawas Counties from here. I hope to have at least 6 – 10 new caches also published for this event.
All of the temp (event caches) will involve waymarks. You will have to log the waymarks at www.waymarking.com in order to log the temp event caches. Bring a digital camera for your group so you can take photos at the various waymarks. The waymarks will take you to areas where there are also currently published caches.
Feel free to arrive anytime after Noon . Bring lawn chairs, beverages and a covered dish. Please post in your will attend log what dish you will be bringing and the number of people attending. Burgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments, plates & utensils will be provided.
Door prizes will not be awarded until the evening (approximately 6:00 pm ). WiFi will be available onsite. The event will go until the last cacher leaves, or until the hosts finally boot everyone out. The first 2 years things broke up around Midnight .
For those who might be travelling from afar, there are a couple of campgrounds nearby. The nearest hotels are in Alliance , or Canton , OH for those who rough it smoothly. Contact the event host by email for suggested camping or hotel locations.
