ArtieD: This one has had a good run, but muggle activity prevents me from being able to maintain this hide as it stands. Look for a new one in it's place soon.

Geocache Description:

This cache is not at the posted coordinates!

Congrats to Mongo travelers for being FTF!

Too often people pass by history without even knowing it. One of the best ways to get a taste of the history around us is to visit cemeteries. The people buried there might have lived average lives and some helped to create history during their lives.

The old Jefferson City Cemetery dates back to 1826 and the adjoining Woodland Cemetery began in 1837. The Woodland Cemetery has a section for the State Of Missouri and includes the burials of many of Missouri's early political dignitaries, including Governor John S. Marmaduke, who died in office in 1887. To the east and adjoining these cemeteries is the Jefferson City National Military Cemetery.

While visiting these cemeteries, we came across two special graves. These two graves belong to Revolutionary War veterans who died and were buried here. Seeing these two unexpected sites gave us the idea for this cache.

The cemetery is open from dawn to dusk each day.
Please do not visit outside of these times.

The coordinates listed above will bring you to the first of these two graves. Take the birth date listed at this person's grave and subtract 1657 to get ABC. If the number is below 100, add a zero in front of the number.

Now, go to these coordinates...

N 38* 34.070 x W 092* 09.746

At this grave, take the year of this person's death and subtract 1021 to get DEF. If the number is below 100, add a zero in front of the number.

The final cache is located at:

N 38* 34.ABC W 092* 09.DEF

Once you get the final coordinates, you may set out for the final cache. The cache is not located on the cemetery grounds out of respect for those who reside there.

You are looking for a small camouflaged Lock-n-Lock container containing a log book and small items. Please put the container back as you found it. Thanks!

After you have found the cache, you might consider taking a few moments to admire the other gravestones in the cemetery as many of them are truly works of art.

Happy Hunting!
