Geocache Description:

The puzzle aspect of this cache is based on a code that has been used throughout time.  The code is impossible to crack if it gets into enemy hands.  Here's why:  the code works by using sequential numbers that reference the page, line, word and character of a word in a predetermined book.  The code is impossible to crack if you do not know which book in being used.

FIRST You need to know which book to use.  Below is an encrypted image of some text.  The text is in Wingdings font.  You must decrypt this text It will give you the ISBN (International Standard Book Number) of the book that is required to crack the code.

If you are experiencing problems cracking the code, make sure that you have the hard cover edition of the book in order to get the correct answer (I'm not sure if the soft cover edition will work out - it may or may not)  I chose this book because it is a popular book that the Ajax, Pickering and Whitby Libraries all have multiple copies of (Ajax: 8 copies; Pickering: 11; Whitby: 10).  It is a popular book so I'm sure Chapters and other book stores have it also for you to use. NOTE:  Don't use the large print edition.  It obviously has more pages and the page numbers will not match up.

SECOND You need to know how and what to do.  Use the numbers in the box below to complete the puzzle.  The first number inside each set of brackets is the page number, followed by the line number, the word number within that line (including numerals) and finally the character within that word (excluding punctuation).  Times written like 4:00 pm count as two words; one word is the "4:00" the other is the "pm".  Line numbers do not include the heading at the top of the page (Page number, author, chapter, etc.) or any line-breaks within the page.  If there is no fourth number in the set, take the entire word instead of individual characters.  *x* denotes a special character (whatever is between the asterisks).

Example:  [134.25.4.1]   :   The first character in the fourth word on the twenty-fifth line on page 134.
