Geocache Description:

Themed cache - Foreign Exchange - no tree climbing required.

The eye will be watching you when you reach the Co-ord’s, but where is the eye?

At this point in 1851, some of Canterbury’s first settlers built their huts near to the Avon River and is now part of Hagley Park. From the plaque at the base of this tree you will be able to calculate the final location of the Cache. The cache is a small screw top container with log sheet, pencil and a number of coins mostly from other countries. The theme of this cache is foreign exchange so if you take a coin leave a coin. Those early settlers were foreign to our shores and would have had coins from their homelands in their pockets.

Now to find the cache find the date the plaque was erected:
D1 D2 M1 M2 Y1 Y2 Y3 Y4

Y4-M2=U D2+M1=V Y2-Y4=W
D1-Y1=X M1-D1=Y Y2-M2=Z

Final destination:

S 43 º31.UVW
E 172 º 37.XYZ

Even if you don’t want to swap coins, please visit just to log the find.

This is a very high muggle area, so be very careful with this cache and re-hide it with some of the same debris.

The gates to the park are locked at dusk, so park on the road if in doubt. It about a 5 min walk from Riccarton Ave to the Co-ord’s.
