Geocache Description:

This cache is near the Kootenay Canal and the Cora Linn Dam. The directions will take you further and further away from the dangers on the warning signs.

Park by the gates at n 49 27.340 W 117 28.505 and take the lower road. You'll be walking past the trail that leads to Kootenay Pirates' Pirate's Fowl Cache GCJPTA. Turn left at N 49 27.535 W 117 28.069 and head towards the water. You'll see a trail going off to your right into a forested area.

As you start into the forest you'll have to cross a small creek bed. Be careful. The boards used as a bridge can be very slippery.

GPS reception in the forest is quite poor. Originally there was a yellow ribbon hanging from a tall branch, but it seems to have gone missing. The cache is left towards the river and the cache was almost directly behind a big dead, standing Cottonwood tree. Sadly the tree fell and parts of it litter the ground. Still, straight in towards the cache from the trail may not be the best route.

This cache should be easily accessible most of the year. It's at the base of a big leaning Cedar with three tops.

The forest trail eventually leads out to the river shore not far from the base of the dam.

If you're having very poor GPS reception try walking along the river until your GPS tells you that you are close to the cache, then plunge into the bush to retrieve it.
