Geocache Description:

Nick i’ th’ hill is a pronounced dip in the ridge, believed to have been a melt water drainage channel in the last ice age. The ridge, which is result of a red rock fault, forms the Mow Cop trail and Congleton Edge, which is the final part of the Gritstone trail. This ridge extends from the Bosley Cloud to the hill top village of Mow Cop with its famous castle folly.

Parking is available at the 3-way road junction, 53° 07.797´N 002° 11.599´W – this is a small lay-by marked by 2 wooden posts. Walk up the natural path and follow the signs for the Gritstone trail.

The path is not suitable for wheel chairs however some makes of child’s buggy could attempt it. The path is generally well worn and maintained. Care may be needed with small children, as there are a couple of areas with drop off edges. Generally the walk is not steep and although it is situated in rocky surroundings it is easy terrain.

There are lovely views of the surrounding countryside from along the ridge, with views of Staffordshire and the potteries on the right hand side, and the Cheshire plain on the left. In the distance the radio telescope of Jodrell bank can be seen.

The cache is a small plastic container in a camouflaged bag. Inside you should find: logbook, pencil and usual swappable goodies. There is a pencil sharpener included, please leave this for use at the cache.

At the time of placing the cache the GPS accuracy was within 27ft.
