CACHING EVENT!

for Spring 2009

Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 18 as the Greater Charlotte Geocaching Club goes north and provides an afternoon of relief from this taxing time of year!

Hornets Nest park in north Mecklenburg County is the location of our next meeting, and we invite you to join us at 4:00pm at shelter #6. This great park has many amenities including a playground and horseshoe pits near our shelter, a fishing pond, a disc golf course, a BMX track and more! There may be a few surprises courtesy of the GCGC, so be sure to bring your GPS and your boots. The shelter will accommodate about 30 people, but we anticipate many more cachers, so plan to bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket - there is plenty of room around the shelter to spread out.

Hot dogs and drinks will be provided, and if you could bring your favorite side dish to share that would be great. We'll pass around an ammo can for donations to cover the cost of the shelter and the food.

Since we're back to our regular meeting format, there will be door prizes to give away and an area to discover and trade trackables. Samples of the new GCGC geocoin will be on display as well, and you can place your order for coins at the meeting and save postage.

Thanks to our fantastic website at www.charlottegeocaching.com,our local geocaching community is thriving, and our membership is growing rapidly. If you have attended some of our events in the past, we would love to see you again, and if you're new to the Charlotte geocaching scene, we would enjoy meeting you and placing a face with a username. The shelter is ours until the park closes, so come on out and stay as long as you like - we'll see you there!

We will be having a CITO event prior to this event for those who have the extra hands and like to spring clean, so if you are able and wiling, please join in some Spring Cleaning with the GCGC.
