This cache is in the Tararua Forest Park. Access to this entrance to the Park is along Putara Road, west of Eketahuna. There is a small carpark at the road end. This is the main access route to two tramping huts – Herepai and Roaring Stag.
The cache is about a 15 minute walk from the carpark. The track can be a little muddy in places, and you will need to cross a swingbridge. The cache is a short distance off the track. GPS coverage may be patchy due to the forest canopy. If this is the case use the hints below. After you have found the cache you might like to continue along the track for 25-30 minutes to another swingbridge. You will need to return along the same way back to your car.
The cache is a 500ml Sistema container. Bring your own pen.
