Geocache Description:

This is a .50 cal ammo can hidden on an island on Lake Lanier. The cache is not at the posted coordinates (but it is on the same island).

The coordinates of the cache are:  N 34° 17.683  W 083° 55.__9.   The path through the maze below will reveal the two missing digits.

While scouting for a cache location on this island I kicked up a piebald deer! It was an average size doe covered with large blotches of white fur. The condition is caused by a genetic defect which occurs at a rate of about one in every 2000 - 3000 deer. If you're a deer, having extra white fur is not a good thing! You've got to be extra wary since your camouflage is, well, less than effective. I've seen a great many deer in my life but this was only the second piebald. If you're lucky maybe you'll spot it too!!

The entire island is surrounded by nice beaches. From some of those beaches the route to the cache is pretty human friendly. But from others it's practically impossible. I figure if you're hardcore enough to hunt an island puzzle cache in the first place, you're in it for the adventure and don't want me to tell you where to park. But I will if you ask.

The coordinates are the result of a 600 sample average taken on a clear sunny day. Please leave no trace. It's hidden fairly aggressively, but there's no need to use any force at all to locate and retrieve this cache. Please rehide without creating a pile of sticks.

I hope you enjoy your day on Lake Lanier and I hope you enjoy this adventure. And if you spot that piebald deer, congratulations! You'll be one of the few humans who ever will.

The first finder gets this custom made mug FTF mug as a trophy for their achievement.

Congratulations to Boca Bob for the FTF!!

A note about Trade Items, Travel Bugs, and Geocoins...

Please don't take a travel bug (TB) or trackable geocoin from this cache unless you intend to log it properly and move it to a new cache. Since trackables are not trade items, "Took a bag of marbles, left a TB" is not good. If you take a trade item from this cache, please replace it with something of equal or greater value. Then decide if you want to grab or drop off a TB or trackable geocoin.

Thanks for your interest and I hope you enjoy the cache!
