April's event will be held at the Windmill Family Restaurant
in Morgantown from 6-8 PM on Saturday April 25. The Windmill is
located at the intersection of Routes 10 and 23 and is considered
to be the "gateway" of Lancaster County and the Pennsylvania Dutch
Region.
Back in the 1930s, Spanky McFarland formed the "He-Man Woman
Haters Club" with his pal Alfalfa. This club was the result of a
pair of broken hearts and misplaced machismo.
Early in 2009, the Men of SEPAG had their hearts broken by the
Women of SEPAG. But instead of forming an exclusionary club, the
Men of SEPAG cited the legal precedence of Title IX. This event
continues the series of event caches to celebrate our maleness, but
at the same time welcoming cachers of every gender.
"Tilting at windmills" is an English idiom which means
attacking imaginary enemies, or fighting otherwise-unwinnable
battles. The word “tilt,” here, comes from jousting.
This phrase originated in the novel Don Quixote, by
Miguel de Cervantes, and is often used today in reference to
persistent engagement in a futile activity. At one point in the
novel, Don Quixote fights windmills that he imagines to be giants.
Quixote sees the windmill blades as the giant's arms.
Whether you are a cacher from the tri-county area or beyond,
please join us on April 25th, Between 6 and 8pm at the
Windmill!
