Geocache Description:

RAVENS ROOST was placed to thank RavenGal for all of her great caches.

When I first started geocaching my first few finds were Ok... I wasnt really to excited about the whole GC process at that point. But it was better than a poke in they eye with a sharp stick !!!

Well one day My wife and I decided to go north for a cluster of caches and found Big Rock Cave GCZAKA...as well as a few other Ravengal caches in the area. That is when I realized that geocaching can open your eyes to some amazing places that may have gone unnoticed forever if not for the hunt.
I have two favorite Geocaches one is in Arizona the other is Province Mountain GC8EB8 by Ravengal. That is the type of cache I strive for, with all my cache placements I have tried to have a little story or some importance to them. I would like to think that if a cacher finds 100 caches or 10000, that maybe One of mine may be a memorable one... Quality over quantity for sure.

I read somewhere on Ravengals logs or possibly on a forum about how she may see some place on a map, or from a distance that may have the posibility of a view or may have some unique history and then decide to go and blaze a trail to get there!
A true explororer the likes of who settled our great country, and before that came to the new world...

I like to think about the Native Americans or the settlers pushing west who first saw the Grand Canyon or Monument valley or the Great Sand Dunes...So many other natural wonders big and small. What they must have thought when they were surprised by them. "Its one thing to know where we are going and what to expect when we get there, quite another to blaze a path into the unknown..."

So anyways Ive been seeing these cliffs from the hiway for years and always wanted to check them out. So with the help of 88seriesIII off we went snow shoes and all... This place is what we found. One of those quiet little spots with no chance of muggles and a View. Some cool rock formations and cliffs. Just the type of place Ravengal would roost in!

Thankyou Ravengal for showing me and my family some special spots!

Now let me say that I like to bushwack, So this may not be everybodys cup of tea, Ravens Roost IS NOT an easy cache to get IMO due to the last bit of cliff. You can park on Tenerriffe Rd at the nature conservancy trail head. There is an existing Cache there that you can grab on the way by. Follow the trail to The "BUSHWACK START"
I am going to give a series of waypoints to Ravens Rest and then onto Raven Roost and that should get you there without to much trouble.
If you follow that ridge staying close to the top top you will start heading to Ravens Roost.
If want you can make a beeline to the cache from The B/W waypoint but the scrub is thicker and the going is rougher.

Ok, this cache is located on some Steep terrain!!! I wont say not to bring your kids but just make sure that you keep an eye on them (like you need me to say that) One of the faces is at least 50 feet straight down. You'll see why when you find GZ.
Cliff face caches can be hard to find due to looking for COORDs that are more on a vertical plane, but I averaged for almost 30 minutes and I think the are darn close. You are looking for a 50cal can hidden by other rocks I dont see many muggles coming here but please rehide as found.

This is important! There is a fairly easy way down but if you dont take it The face can be very treacherous. The most important waypoint I will call "CLIFF" and from there goto "Decent"... The rout to the cache is obvious from there. I dont want to make this to easy but I dont want any one getting hurt either. From the Kiosk its 25 minutes to GZ give or take.

So thats about it... if you like this cache, Thank Ravengal for it was she who inspired me to place it.

Best regards, THEHIWAYMAN
