Geocache Description:

Located within Sycamore Park

In the center of this nice 40-acre public park is a huge white spotted tree with a wooden fence around it. This is the Sycamore tree that gives the park it's name. A local name for the Sycamore tree is the "Button Ball" after the round, coat button-sized balls of seeds that fall from the trees and litter the ground in the fall. The Sycamore is a fairly soft wood and a fast growing tree common to the area. Sycamores can grow to 100+ feet tall and often reach 6+ feet in diameter. It is very distinctive with its white patchy bark and can be recognized from quite a distance. The Sycamore is often planted as a shade tree and the wood has been used for interiors and furniture.
While you are visiting this two-stage cache, check out some of the beautiful Sycamores located around the perimeter of the park.
Please re-hide this cache with care as there are many children playing ball and people fishing in the area at all times of year! The final stage is a bright purple liter-sized water bottle. It contains a simple log sheet and a variety of trade items. Sorry, no FTF prize, just the glory of putting your name at the top of the list!
