The original ammo box container for this cache was muggled, I've replaced it with a much smaller container on 4/14/11. It is located off Dow Lake Rd., just west of Haileyville. The area is no longer maintained as a recreation area, but it is still a popular spot for fisherman. Some stealth may be required.
I found this area after reading "Images of America: Pittsburg County" by Larry J. Hoefling. This was a popular spot for boaters, swimmers, and picnickers at the turn of the century. An electric trolley line, which ran between McAlester and Heartshorne, had a stop along the south side of the lake, near the cache location. Piers and supports from the old line are still intact alongside the old 30's era bridge over Brushy Creek.
Cache is a small log-only container. BYO pencil.
