St Barnabus, Mayland

This church was built in 1867 to replace the original church of the same name which was in the words of the petition to the Bishop of Rochester "... in a very dilapidated state and does not afford sufficient accommodation for the parishoners ..."
A new church designed by Hardwick (the younger) was subsequently built about 300 yards north of the old church in Kentish Ragstone in the Early English style consisting of a nave, chancel and south porch together with a bellcote at the west end. The old bell of 1662 cast by Miles Graye of Colchester is hung in an open gable at the east end.
There are connections with St Barts hospital in London as indicated by the foundation stone below the east window.
