4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

Recently I was reading a Sydney daily paper and came across a new puzzle called KenKen (which means Cleverness squared, as Ken is the Japanese word for cleverness). Similar to a Sudoku where the goal is to fill the square with digits, it is however, not a variation.

The rules for solving are:

  1. Each row must be filled in with the numbers 1 to 6 (for a 6x6 puzzle – it varies accordingly).
  2. Each column must be filled in with the numbers 1 to 6.
  3. Do not repeat a number in a row or column.
  4. The numbers in a heavily outlined group of squares, called cages, must combine (in any order) to produce the goal number in the top corner using the mathematical operation given.

Note: Numbers can be repeated within a cage, so long as they are not in the same row or column. Also, cages with just one square can immediately be filled in.

The following 4x4 KenKen shows the unique result by following the rules.

To locate the cache simply solve the following 6x6 KenKen to obtain the values for A to G and T to Z.

The small cache is located at:
S 34° 5A.(B+C)(D+E)(F*G)
E138° 3(T/U).(V-W)(X+Y)Z

First to Find prize is a unique card that’ll provide access to obtain a DVD to the geocaching related movie Find Me.
