Geocache Description:

A camouflaged 32 oz. plastic container with screw-on lid hidden in the western side of Settlers Cabin Park. When this cache was placed in 2009 Old Gnarly stood tall near a steep embankment of a steam and there was no mistaking the location of ground zero. In the summer of 2012 Old Gnarly fell. There is no need to climb on or under the fallen Old Gnarly to find the cache container.

*** 07/14/2018 UPDATED LISTING ***
Parking is available at the old park office on Greer Road N 40°25.351 W 080°09.713. Begin your hike at the trailhead for the Red Trail Connector N 40°25.370 W 080°09.735. Follow this trail downhill to the Red Trail intersection near the power lines. Under the power lines the red trail intersects with the orange trail (Lake Loop) N 40°25.377 W 080°09.958 that goes down the hill and to the right back into the woods. Take the Lake Loop trail that will eventually lead you down the hillside to the valley at N 40°25.412 W 080°10.091. From there follow your GPS pointer to GZ. When the cache was originally placed it was about 20 feet off of a trail less traveled. There are some rather steep sections along the trails and the terrain at GZ is very steep so proper footwear is recommended.

There is a pond located near the cache at N 40°25.406 W 080°10.100 on the Lake Loop that you may want to check out while you’re visiting this area of the park.

Park regulations require pets to be on a leash and no night caching.
