Geocache Description:

Traveling along Highway 34 out of Waldport there is a road sign to Five Rivers, Lobster Valley, and the Fisher Bridge that warranted investigation. With the help of YahotsWalker, I decided to make a caching run to celebrate my 64th Birthday and left behind four new caches.

About three and half miles after the turn-off from Highway 34 is a split that separates Lobster Valley from Five Rivers, taking the road to the left leads to Lobster Valley. This is a scenic and remote valley where the road runs along the Lobster Creek. Apparently, the local crawdads or crayfish were mistaken for their much larger cousins in New England and probably were not quite the meal of the lobsters.

The Lobster post office was established in March 1883 and operated until July of 1896. The location was about a mile east of the Benton County line. Present day Lobster includes a rural fire station and a community church with a large parking lot. The landscaped lawn and valley view provides a nice background for a quick lunch stop.

The cache container is a cammoed 4 inch lock-n-lock hidden along cemetery road.

CONGRATULATIONS to putterer for the FTF!
