4X4 ONLY AS TERRAIN IS ROUGH. WHEN: April 25, 2009. DIRECTIONS:
From Benson, take Pomerene Rd. Turn into Cascabel Rd. Follow it to
Three Links Rd to the right. Go left on Muleshoe Ranch Rd. Drive
until you reach Muleshoe Ranch. There is a register to sign in.
Proceed on to Jackson Cabin. We plan to leave on Friday afternoon
and camp at the cabin that night. You are welcome to join us and if
you want you can camp out Saturday night as this is a long
ride.
We will provide hot dogs/hamburgers/buns/chips/condiments/potato
salad/cookies/plates/utensils. If you want to bring whatever that
is not listed, please post a note. BRING YOUR OWN DRINKS. We will
have some water. We plan to have a raffle so please bring trade
items to stuff our giveaway ammo box. We will also raffle off one
of our valuable Team Bugmann walking sticks. No cell phone service
here. Cache In Trash Out. Hope to see you all there. P.S. Bet we
don't forget the hot dogs this year.
A big thank you to ShadowAce for the drive reference. In 2007 we
met in Benson before the drive and we left the rally point 7:13 AM
( N31 58.104 W110 17.844 ) 7:16 AM we were heading north on Hwy
76/Pomerene Rd ( N31 58.044 W110 16.387 ) Pomerene becomes Cascabel
Rd and we remained on this, at 7:48 AM when we turned east unto E
Three Links Rd ( N32 12.414 W110 18.567 ) We turned Left /
Northward at Muleshoe Rd - 8:12 AM ( N32 13.815 W110 04.769 ) 8:36
AM and we find ourselves at the sign in register located at ( N32
20.305 W110 14.289 ) ~ At this point the road goes from yeah, not
so bad, to .. Slow your tush down fool! ~ 9:09 AM We pass by Lone
Ranger Cache ( N32 22.386 W110 15.103 ) 10:25 AM We are passing the
Baby cache ( N32 26.712 W110 16.489 ) 11:32 AM and we are parked at
the cabin and ready for lunch ( N32 28.371 W110 18.463 ) All in all
just over 4 hours from Benson to the cabin: - Benson Rally to
Cascabel / ThreeLinks turn was 21.1 miles with an average of 45 MPH
From Cascabel / ThreeLinks to the Sign in Register is 30 miles with
an average speed of 38 MPH From the Sign in Register to the cabin
is 14.1 miles with an average speed of 5 MPH.
