Forest Trail Redwood Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

VCTrails: This has always been a difficult cache because it gets buried with needles from the redwoods. Now it seems to be gone. There is still another cache along this really pretty little trail to bring people to it.

Geocache Description:

This cache is about 300 yards along the Forest Trail from Crags Road in Malibu Creek State Park.

Malibu Creek State Park is one of the crown jewels of the Santa Monica Mountains. Its rugged mountains formed the backdrop for the movie and TV show M*A*S*H. The park is very popular, in part because of it's beauty, but also because of it's many very easy hiking and mountain biking trails. The Forest Trail winds along the far side of Century Lake, passing through a grove of redwood trees along the way.

The Forest Trail forks off from Crags Road about 1.5 miles from the back door to the park at the west end of Crags Rd and marked by cache GC1PMMH "Crags Road Trailhead P & G" (visit link) . The main parking area, about 1.8 miles away, is marked by the cache GC1BR8A "A Horse Of A Different Color" (visit link) . For a detailed trail map and trail descriptions, visit (visit link)

You are looking for a camo'd plastic peanut butter jar. It is on the ground not far from the base of the tree, next to a small log. It may get covered in needles that fall from the tree.
