Kauri Point offers a varied walk through the historic reserve, showing pa fortifications and lovely examples of pohutukawa forest fringing the harbour's edge.
Bring the kids and fishing gear and try your luck at the end of the long jetty which extends 196 metres out into the harbour channel and is a very popular fishing spot.
Pa fortifications and trenches are obvious in the area and should be treated with respect.
Good views from the point of the inner harbour and to Tauranga.
Watch kids on walkway as there are some big drop offs.
