Introduction to Caching at Fowlmead Country Park

Learn how to geocache at Fowlmead Country Park (taught by local geocachers) in the big tent in the car park.

Bring your friends, your family, or just yourself to Fowlmead Country Park and learn about Geocaching. If you own a GPS unit, please bring it with you. If you do not don’t worry, a limited number of handheld GPS units will be available for use as you learn how to find geocaches hidden around the park’s trail system. Local Geocachers will provide personal lessons in GPS use, and will be on hand throughout the area to ensure your success in finding the geocaches. Experience this fast-growing game that's paced for outdoor users of all ages and abilities, and see some of the 'treasures' that you might find in a geocache.

Experienced cachers can enjoy the camaraderie of the fellow cachers and get the coordinates of a few new caches placed especially for them as part of this event.

We begin at 10 AM and will have experienced cachers who will be on hand all day to answer questions and demonstrate how to find geocaches online, load coordinates into GPS units, and prepare to go out in the field in search of the cache itself. Gear, travel bugs, geocoins and other aspects of the game will be covered.

Throughout the day we'll move outdoors with GPS units in hand to begin our journey of discovery... ending with a few 'finds' of an actual geocaches located close nearby the tent. A team of experienced field assistants will be on hand to ensure everyone gets as much personal attention as necessary to make their first geocaching expedition a success!

Participants should wear footwear & clothing suitable for a hike down the park’s beautiful trails. Geocaching is an all-weather all-season outdoor activity involving the entire family.

There will be many other activities going on throughout the park all day. Make sure and come early and stay late.
