"Ohio
Spirit Quest"
The
Ohio Spirit Quest series of geocaches will take you to a number of
historic cemeteries built by Buckeye Pioneers. This series is
inspired by and a continuation of the Indiana Spirit Quest caches
created by Six Dog Team. In just over three years, the SPIRIT QUEST
has grown to over 550 caches, with the hiding teams growing as
well. The Ohio Spirit Quest has begun to grown to over 30 in Ohio,
with five current caching teams, three each with A Man and His Dog,
one with a Couple and Their Dog... and one with A Woman and her
Dog.
Over 1,000 cachers have logged over 20,000
finds. One cache machine found 111 ISQ caches in a single day
(daylight hours only).

SPIRIT QUEST #39
"By Request"
Pleasant View Cemetery, once
known as Fayette Cemetery, was originally a family burial ground on
land owned by John Gamber. The first burial is difficult to
ascertain as many graves were moved here from nearby abandoned
cemeteries. It may have been as early as 1836. It is located west
of Maple Street and south of Ontario Street, in the southwest
section of the village of Fayette.
The town of Fayette, which had a precarious existence for the
first years of its life, gradually assumed the proportions of a
thrifty town. Prior to the construction of the Canada Southern
railroad, it was scarcely a business center, and had a small
population, though there were successful business enterprises
located in the village. But with the building of the railroad, and
the establishment of a station there, the town began to take on
life, and soon thereafter was incorporated. It is supported by a
rich agricultural district, remote from formidable towns, and is an
extensive shipping point on that branch of the Lake Shore railroad.
Its business men are a class of progressive and enterprising
people, who command ample capital and first-class facilities for
the transaction of the large volume of business.
Though it has not made rapid strides in growth, its population is
mainly of that solid, permanent character which adds financial
strength and stability. According to the census of 1900, the
population is eight hundred and eighty-six. The town has well built
residences and business blocks and good educational advantages and
church facilities.
Congrats to skrip for the
