Geocache Description:

The cache is located in a large wooded triangular-shaped piece land surrounded by three roads, East David (Hempstead) Drive, Display Lane and Glenstead Drive.
This should be a rather mild terrain challenge.

ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO SIGN THE PHYSICAL LOG, THEN YOU SHOULD NOT CLAIM A "FOUND IT" ON THE CACHE.
CLAIMING A "FOUND IT" WITHOUT SIGNING THE PHYSICAL LOG AS REQUIRED FOR A PHYSICAL GEOCACHE, WILL RESULT IN THE DELETION OF YOUR ONLINE "FOUND IT" LOG!!!
THE ONLY EXCEPTIONS ARE VIRTUALS, EARTHCACHES AND WEB-CAMS.

This was an unexpected hide.
I think it's kind of neat-o and I hope you think so, too.
This is one of those places you decide to explore and realize "I HAVE TO PUT A CACHE HERE!"

This site is the former location of the Captain Kidd Drive-In located at 1500 Hempstead Dr.
It was owned and operated by Levin Associates of Dayton, opened in 1975 and closed in 1988

With their brother Sam, twins Al and Lou Levin were Dayton drive-in pioneers.
The Levins opened their first theater, the Sherwood Drive-In, in 1946. At one point, they owned 17 Midwest theaters, both indoor and outdoor.

If you do a little exploring, you will find the cement foundations of the concessions stand and other buildings overgrown with thick underbrush and large trees.
Also you will discover several large round cement platforms, possibly for playground equipment.

The drive-in movie theater is a classic symbol of Americana.
Dayton's first drive-in theater opened in 1942 on Valley Street, now the site of a trucking company.
By 1956, the Dayton area had more drive-in theaters per capita than any other city in the world.
Despite the decline of open-air theaters in recent decades, Ohio remains among the top five drive-in theater states in the U.S.
The Dayton area still boasts three thriving outdoor theaters — the Dixie Twin, Melody 49 and Skyborn drive-ins.

The Cache
It's a camo painted sandwich sized Lock-n-Lock starting with some baseball cards in baggies, a bobber and a couple TB's.

Though everything is quite sturdy and secure, use caution when accessing the cache.
