Geocache Description:

a small cache near the old Unionville Church

I always drive past the sign for Unionville on the way to Maud, New Boston, Texarkana, etc on US 67 heading east out of Naples. Schmelmo and I were driving around today and decided to check out whats in Unionville. The answer...not alot. Evidentally at one time it was a decent size population center in Cass County but no longer. It had at least a post office but according to my research it closed in 1872 for good. The only thing left here is an old church which we thought at first might have been adandoned but it appears to have furniture inside in addition to gas and electric services. The cache is a camo taped waterproof matchbox and it shouldnt take you too long to locate. Enjoy the cache and the drive. One of the interesting things we noticed on the way down to the cache location is a new log cabin complete with its own astronomical observatory. Odd but cool at the same time! You cant miss it...its on the right side of the road about halfway to the cache location. Make sure you bring your own writing utensil and enjoy the cache!
